Ron Lemaire brings 27 years of extensive experience from a not-for-profit association perspective, with a focus on vertically integrated supply chains, government relations, advocacy, marketing, public/private partnerships, capacity building and food systems thinking. Working within the fresh produce world for over 19 years, Ron Lemaire has become acquainted with the challenges and opportunities within the sector. The community throughout our fresh fruit and vegetable food system works to ensure they are stewards of our land for future generations, while meeting the need to supply safe, quality and affordable produce year-round.

Ron Lemaire, President of the Canadian Produce Marketing Association (CPMA) will delve into the ongoing initiative established by the CPMA nearly two years ago, examining plastic packaging usage in the produce sector. Recognizing that packaging technology addresses numerous challenges, enabling supply chain efficiencies, ensuring food safety standards are met, offering food security and meeting quality assurance requirements, it was necessary to examine the entire supply chain to understand the use of plastics and the resulting impacts on our communities, landfills and waterways.
